Defending animals

There are different ways to defend and help animals. We can oppose animal exploitation and support helping animals in need of aid in the wild. We can get involved and volunteer, and we can consider giving up the use of nonhuman animals as resources. Below you will find several articles explaining how this can be done.

What you can do

If you want to help us advance towards a world with less speciesism and less suffering, there are several things you can do

Helping animals in the wild

There are many ways we can help animals living in the wild and save them from the harms that they face in nature. In the long term, the only way they will eventually get the help they need is by us raising awareness of the plight of wild animals and the discrimination they suffer. But there are helpful things that can be done for them in the short term, too.

Veganism

Veganism is a moral position that opposes exploiting and otherwise harming nonhuman animals. This includes what we do directly, such as hunting or fishing. It also includes what we support as consumers, which affects many more animals.

Veganism FAQ

Veganism means trying to avoid harming animals. The most visible feature of being vegan, and probably the one that can directly make a difference for the most animals, is eating vegan. This means eating only foods that don’t come from animal sources or harm animals, such as animal flesh, dairy products, and honey. But nonhuman animals are harmed and killed in many other ways that are also avoidable. Vegans choose not to wear clothes made from animals or upholster their furniture with the skins of animals.

Veganism tips

Vegans often claim that the decision to no longer harm animals was one of the most important ones they ever made and remain very proud of it for the rest of their lives. Going vegan allows them to take a crucial stance concerning animal exploitation. As with other major life changes, learning a new way to eat, informing themselves about veganism and encountering objections that other people present can pose challenges, though. Meeting these challenges can be exciting in some cases, but even when it is not, it’s nevertheless something that anyone can do, and it’s easier than many people think.

Volunteer

There are many ways you can collaborate with us, depending on your time, skills and interests, with specific examples of activities you can get involved with to strengthen the impact of our work.
